Why does CARD care about
Aqua Texas in the Valley?*

FIRING BLACK CASTLE = AQUA TEXAS FOREVER!

If Council fulfills its threat to stop the city sewer plant:

WINNER: Aqua America
Why does CARD care aboutAqua Texas in the Valley?
Chris Franklin, Chairman/CEO
Aqua America Corp., Pennsylvania
2017 Compensation $2.6 mil
LOSER: Wimberley Valley Why does CARD care aboutAqua Texas in the Valley?
Blue Hole

The Mayor's proposed Aqua Texas wastewater option will lead to increased water pollution, spur large growth in our Valley, take control away from our own people and send our local money to a national corporation.

City Council is on course to cancel the city's contract for the under-construction and fully-funded City-controlled sewer plant with a vote as early as Thursday, July 19. Then they would give Aqua Texas control of our wastewater and our CCN. Aqua MUST have the valuable CCN - a tool for development and profit.

The Mayor says she wants to enter a "temporary" relationship with Aqua Texas that the city would cancel within 5 years, then pay to build the locally-controlled plant. Temporary! How naïve do they think we are?

This costly fantasy has no PUBLIC documentation or transparency. We are to take on faith that Aqua Texas/Aqua America will behave differently than it has with many other small towns across the country. If Council cancels the Black Castle contract, the future of the Wimberley Valley belongs to Aqua America stockholders FOREVER.

The mayor has proposed:

  • Bore a raw sewage line under Cypress Creek near the iconic swimming hole within Blue Hole Regional Park
  • Pay $1 mil to build a pipeline on the Bypass and pay Aqua Texas $300,000 to upgrade their plant to Type 1 effluent
  • Renegotiate in just days the many complex financial contracts and grants that took years to achieve, re-engineer pipelines, secure a written contract from Aqua Texas and somehow convince us it saves the city money

DO NOT LET THIS HAPPEN TO OUR BELOVED VALLEY
Contact the Mayor and City Council and say No Aqua Texas
