AQUA TEXAS IS BACK ON THE TABLE

Town Hall Meeting
6 p.m., Thursday, June 7, 2017
Wimberley Community Center
14068 Ranch Road 12

According to a June 1st memo from Wimberley City Manager Shawn Cox, the mayor and some members of the city council have been talking to the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) about the possibility of transferring the Wimberley Wastewater Project to Aqua Texas.

At the Town Hall meeting this coming Thursday (June 7, 6PM at the Community Center) Mayor Jaggers will give a presentation "specifically addressing Wimberley's current financial position, responsibilities and obligations to include the controversial Waste Water Sewer Project.” At the beginning of the meeting, members of the public will have three minutes each to ask questions or give opinions. If you oppose the City turning over the the Wastewater Project to Aqua Texas (and, most likely, the City's CCN), please plan to attend this meeting and make your voices heard.

CARD believes that the current, fully-funded and already started citizen-controlled wastewater collection system and plant are in the best interest of Wimberley's finances and environment. Even more important, CARD believes relinquishing control of the city's future development by turning over control of the city's CCN to Aqua Texas would mean the end of Wimberley as we know it. Aqua Texas cannot profit from the tiny number of businesses served by the downtown wastewater area now in the plans. With the CCN, they would be able to facilitate massive development of businesses and, more importantly, large housing developments which are the basis of their profit structure.

Thank you.
