Communications, Outreach and Education
We can achieve CARD’s mission only through informing and educating fellow citizens. The Communications/Outreach/Education Subcommittee supports the work of the other three Steering Committee subcommittees by communicating information about issues and impending threats related to water, development, and transportation in the Wimberley Valley and western Hays County.
When CARD members write articles about our position on issues of local concern, members of this subcommittee review them and sometimes make suggestions to improve clarity, then we make sure that the articles are distributed to area print and online publications. When CARD is involved in community events and activities, we alert the public through press releases and emails.
We publish CARDtalk to inform our email subscribers about CARD’s position on various issues. We encourage local residents to sign up for our email list to receive CARDtalk and occasional other announcements. We do not share our email list with anyone, and only send a limited number of emails that we have determined to be of wide interest to our subscribers. Our Get Involved page has a sign-up form for CARDtalk.
CARD has put on single day educational programs such as our EcoFests for area residents, and has organized public meetings such as the Needmore Ranch MUD meeting at the Wimberley Community Center, where local citizens were able to hear from and interact with our elected officials. Our website supports and complements the other ways that we communicate with fellow citizens. In addition, people can use the website to find more information on CARD-related topics and links to other listed organizations and resources.
If you have any questions, suggestions or criticisms for us, please let us hear from you at email@example.com.
